BayWa r.e. secures over 150 MW in Great Britain CfD Allocation Round 6

to overview

BayWa r.e. has successfully secured contracts for three projects, with a combined total capacity of over 150 MW, across onshore wind and solar in Allocation Round 6 (AR6) of the GB Contracts for Difference (CfD) auction. The projects, based across England and Scotland, continue to build BayWa r.e.’s strong wind, solar and energy storage pipeline across the market.

The successful projects include Corriegarth 2, an onshore wind development project with a capacity of up to 70 MW, located in the Scottish Highlands, as well as Clump Farm and Yanel Farm, both solar projects based in England, with planned capacities of 49.9 MW (AC) and 35 MW (AC) respectively. In addition to delivering clean and domestically generated renewable energy, these projects will further support local investment across the UK.

As the country continues to make positive strides towards renewable energy development, these projects will be crucial towards the UK Government’s ambitions of achieving clean power by 2030 and its Net Zero emission commitment by 2050.

Christine McGregor, Managing Director for BayWa r.e. UK, is further driving this change in her role on the Onshore Wind Industry Taskforce; established by the UK Government to accelerate onshore wind deployment to achieve the UK’s 2030 targets. In addition, BayWa r.e. is also being represented on further working groups within this taskforce covering planning, aviation, grid, communities, and financing.

Christine McGregor, Managing Director for BayWa r.e. UK, commented:

“BayWa r.e.’s success in the recent AR6 round results support the continued growth and expansion of our portfolio in the UK and is a true reflection of the hard work and commitment of our team."

“These results are a positive step in the right direction in the fight against the climate and energy crisis; supporting the generation of clean, reliable energy for consumers. We look forward to playing our part, alongside the wider industry, by progressing these renewable projects to meet important upcoming milestones.”

The CfD is a government scheme that promotes investment into large scale low carbon electricity generation by allowing renewable developers to compete for contracts by submitting sealed bids into the CfD auction.
