BayWa r.e. is pleased to announce the acquisition of Dalquhandy Wind Farm in South Lanarkshire, Scotland, from Brockwell Energy Limited.
The 45MW wind farm, located near Coalburn on the site of a former coal mine, will generate enough electricity for 34,000 households.
Gordon MacDougall from BayWa r.e. said: “We’re delighted to be able to add this new project to our UK portfolio of renewable energy generation sites, and to be a part of bringing new life to a disused colliery.”
The local community will benefit considerably from the project over the next 25 years in terms of site access and amenity.
Alex Lambie, CEO of Brockwell Energy Ltd, said: “Brockwell was originally established as a vehicle to use energy project development to revitalise and regenerate former mining sites. The Dalquhandy project is a prime example of this, and we look forward to seeing it continue to play a part in meeting Scotland’s Net Zero ambitions.”
