At BayWa r.e. it is important to us to contribute to protecting the environment – however we can. To coincide with World Mental Health Day, our teams in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Cork, and Milton Keynes ventured out to clean up local rivers, parks, and beaches – all whilst having a fun afternoon with colleagues.
Plastic pollution at beaches and rivers are not just harming plants and wildlife but can also end up in municipal water systems. Once plastic litter is in the water, via a beach or a river, it is broken down by waves, the wind, and sunlight into small particles. These microplastics have been found all across the planet, from Mount Everest to Mariana Trench.
That is why it is essential that we all do our bit for the environment and prevent stray litter in the first place by using bins, recycling and avoiding unnecessary packaging or plastic bags whenever possible. Why don’t you pick up rubbish on your next walk in nature? Every little bit counts and local animals and plants with thank you.
