BayWa r.e. UK supports local children’s gala

Last month, the annual Kirkconnel and Kelloholm Children’s Gala in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland, brought the community together for a day of family fun and learning. BayWa r.e. was delighted to support this popular local event, perfectly timed with Global Wind Day!

The gala saw BayWa r.e. employees from our Glasgow office teaming up with Rowanbanks Environmental Arts and Education. Our stand buzzed with activity, attracting both children and adults eager to learn about renewable energy and our upcoming Cloud Hill Wind Farm.

A working model sets the scene

One of the biggest hits of the day was our interactive model, which included a small wind turbine and solar panel connected to a miniature village. Children took turns powering the turbine themselves, watching in amazement as their efforts lit up the houses in the village. The more energy they generated, the more houses lit up, showing how renewable energy can power homes just like theirs. This hands-on experience sparked a lot of curiosity and led to great conversations about wind and solar energy across all ages.

We also teamed up with a local artist to create a renewable energy-themed mural, with lots of help from local residents. This beautiful piece of collaborative art was given to the Miners Memorial Centre, serving as a lasting reminder of the day’s festivities and the importance of renewable energy.

Quote

“It was great to have BayWa r.e. involved in our event. We’re always excited to have local businesses support us and engage with the residents. The community really enjoyed the stand and learned a lot about how renewable energy works, especially with the replica model demonstrated by BayWa r.e. and Rowanbanks. The mural gifted to the Miners Memorial Centre is fantastic and a wonderful reminder of the special day."

The team in Scotland is gearing up for our next event, The Riding of the Marches in Sanquhar, coming up in August. Stay tuned for more details about how BayWa r.e. will be taking part.
