Leading renewable energy developer, BayWa r.e., is proudly sponsoring the upcoming International Sheep Dog Championships, a much-loved rural event taking place in South Lanarkshire, Scotland from Thursday 12th to Saturday 14th September. The sponsorship is part of BayWa r.e.‘s extensive community investment programme underscoring the company’s commitment to supporting local communities.

The event, organised by the International Sheep Dog Society, will showcase the top sheepdogs from Scotland, England, Ireland, and Wales, offering a rare chance to see these highly skilled animals and their handlers in competition.

Stuart Davidson, Head of Wind Development at BayWa r.e. UK, commented:

“We are thrilled to be supporting this year’s International Sheep Dog Championships, a fantastic showcase of talent from across the UK and Ireland. At BayWa r.e, we believe in fostering strong relationships in the areas in which we operate, and this sponsorship is a reflection of that commitment.”

BayWa r.e’s involvement in the region has already seen over £80 million invested into South Lanarkshire through renewable energy projects. Two more BayWa r.e. energy projects are planned for the local area which will provide significant funding for local communities such as Duneaton, Rigside, Carmichael and Douglas.

Stuart Davidson added:

“We are fortunate to have built long lasting, mutually beneficial relationships with local communities. By working closely with them, we ensure that the funding generated by our wind farms is directed where it is needed most, empowering these areas to thrive.”

Through initiatives like the sponsorship of the International Sheep Dog Championship, BayWa r.e. continues to demonstrate its commitment to sharing the benefits of renewable energy development with the people and communities of South Lanarkshire.
