to overview

BayWa r.e. has reached an operations and maintenance agreement with Cubico Sustainable Investments and GLIL Infrastructure. The deal sees BayWa r.e. taking responsibility for 12 ground-mounted solar farms across England and Scotland.

This, the first such partnership between BayWa r.e. and Cubico in the UK, covers a portfolio of 149 MW. That’s enough to power over 37,000 UK homes every year. Onboarding of the sites commenced in July.

It’s a collaboration that adds huge value to both local communities and the UK’s energy transition overall. The BayWa r.e. UK Asset Operations Team manages over 2 GW of renewables, including more than 835 MW of ground-mounted solar. Cubico’s own renewables portfolio totals over 3.2 GW, with a further 700 MW under construction.

The range of Services, from reactive maintenance and monitoring, to detailed performance analytics, sits within the BayWa r.e. team’s extensive specialisation. All of which helps to support Cubico’s ongoing mission to reinforce their position as a world-leading renewable energy provider.

Morgan Harris, Managing Director of BayWa r.e. Operation Services Limited, welcomes the deal:

“Cubico are a fantastic partner for us, with a mission, values and goals that align perfectly with our own. By adding these important sites to our managed portfolio, we will be leveraging our leading expertise and as a result, the whole UK energy sector takes another strong step towards secure, sustainable supply.”

Chipo Murombedzi, Asset Manager at Cubico Sustainable Investments, commented:

“With this agreement, we know we’re entrusting our assets in the safest possible hands. BayWa r.e. have a reputation for both consistency and excellence. That complements our own big ambitions to keep making maximum positive impact with our investments. Partnerships like this are the building blocks of a successful renewable energy transition, both here in the UK and all over the world.”
